Key Largo is an extraordinarily beautiful and relaxing place to visit all year long. While the island experiences its share of “seasons”, there is no doubt that April and May are considered the best months to visit Key Largo, for a variety of reasons that we’ll explore in this article. 

The Florida Keys boasts an impressively stable climate year round.  With average temperatures in the low 80’s and hardly any rain or overpowering wind during the spring and summer - Key Largo is known for its tropical climate no matter what time of year it is. While the weather may be picture perfect most months of the year, there are certainly seasons - specific to tourism and hurricanes. 

“High-Season” for the Florida Keys is typically March through July (Spring Break through Fourth of July Weekend), though visitors overwhelm the keys every year between Christmas and New Years. Hurricane season is another matter altogether.  When the Atlantic Ocean creates considerably conducive conditions for tropical cyclone development - the entirety of the Florida Keys stays prepared.  Hurricane season in the Florida Keys typically runs from June to October, but storms can arrive earlier or later depending on what’s happening with climatic conditions. 

What is the best month to visit Key Largo? You can’t go wrong visiting Key Largo in March, April, or May. While you may experience afternoon thunderstorms (which is a normal weather pattern that time of year) the weather, fishing, diving, and outdoor dining is at their absolute best!
